Automated Decision-Making
Your rights against purely automated dismissals.
Last updated 21 February 2026
Overview
Article 22 of the UK GDPR provides individuals with the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal or similarly significant effects.
A dismissal by an algorithm without meaningful human review may breach this rule.
What you can do
- Request human intervention and an explanation of the automated decision.
- Submit a Subject Access Request (SAR) to uncover how the algorithm functions and what data it used.
